American soldier slide show and captions (review)

1.
A. I think the most powerful photo in the slideshow would be number 7 where buddha and shane are leaning on shanes car crying because Ian just drove away. For me their reactions to the situation is very powerful because Buddha says "when we saw him drive away is when we realized how real this was" and i bet a lot of people feel that way and it hurts to know that there are people in that situation.

B.
Home #1-7
Basic training #8-22
Iraq #23-30
Back in denver #31-83
i think home is the most powerful set because its showing how ian is before the army it expresses the base of the story and him leaving everything behind.

C. The images work together to tell a story because even without the captions i think you could tell that they are set in chronological order and the fact that we don't have to many new faces showing up shows that the story is kept single.

3.
a.For the photos in which Ian is the main subject the captions are written in present tense. The short descriptions are as if everything is happening right now.

b.The captions enhance the photographs by giving them a storyline or pointing out something you might not have noticed if you were to have just seen the photo.

Senior, Ian Fisher debates on whether calling back the Sgt. Martinez who recently called him with a army opportunity. Ian knows the risk of joining the army and how it will effect his life completely. "This whole time my father and i have been inseparable and leaving him just seems selfish to me" Ian says as he hangs up the phone and turns to look at his father who has on a bright smile.

Ian Fisher and father share there last moments together in silence as the time approaches where Ian will have to leave for training. With no mother figure in the picture Ian held on to his father for support his whole life "now is the time i can prove myself to him" Ian says with his chest held high. "But never in a million years did i ever picture leaving my father behind to go towards my future.

5.
a.they make them more detailed and give a background story more than the photos.
b.Videos tell a story and provide more details that you wouldn't think about by just looking at the photo.
c. Photos capture special moments that might be a blur in a video and often make you curious as to what is happening and why.
